Angela Robinson has over 20 years of combined legal and engineering
expertise in business development, intellectual property, construction, real property transactions, land use, environmental
compliance and family law. She is an experienced litigator and an active member of the legal community.
Through her educational and professional experiences Ms. Robinson has achieved not only technical and legal capabilities,
but a talent for applying a thoughtful, client-oriented, bottom-line approach to every project she handles.
As
Principal of A.S. Robinson & Associates, Ms. Robinson counsels small to medium growth-mode companies with matters such
as contract negotiations, patents and trademarks, tax disputes, HR policy and business development. She counsels
individual clients in matters such as adoption law, special education law and estate planning as well. She also
has represented clients through various phases of civil litigation and in Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as
before the IRS and Maryland State Board of Contract Appeals.
Clients value Ms. Robinson’s eye for
detail, effective business solutions, and vested interest in their success. She understands the challenges
her clients face, and seeks to add value by implementing legal strategies that ensure her clients' interests are protected
in every transaction.
Prior to the firm's organization in 2005, Ms. Robinson was
an Associate at Beveridge & Diamond, P.C., with an environmental, litigation and regulatory practice. Before
that she was an Associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the 10 larget and most preeminent firms in the U.S. at
that time, with an intellectual property and litigation practice. She has represented the City of Alexandria, the City of
New Orleans, and other municipalities in environmental and municipal matters, and counseled private sector clients from Fortune
100 companies to minority-owned enterprises.
Ms. Robinson has also provided pro bono services for non-profit organizations including the Children's Law Center, Washington
Area Lawyers for the Arts, Thurgood Marshall Academy Charter School and Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights. She
currently serves on the Board of Directors of DC Greenworks.
Prior
to obtaining her law degree, Ms. Robinson was an Environmental Consultant. In that capacity, she worked
extensively with the District of Columbia's Water and Sewer Authority's Industrial Pretreatment Division, the District
of Columbia's Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, as well
as with other municipalities and private industries throughout the country. She has contributed to major
development projects including the District’s MCI Center and the WMATA Green Line extension.
Ms.
Robinson also worked as a Civil Engineer for Mobil Oil Corporation in New York where she managed commercial construction projects,
and for the Prince George's County, Maryland Watershed Protection Branch where she developed the County’s Flood
Awareness Program and addressed local storm water management issues.
Education
In 2001 Ms. Robinson received her Juris
Doctorate, cum laude, from Howard University School of Law where she was a member of the Howard Law Journal.
In 1990 Ms. Robinson received her B.S. in Civil
Engineering, cum laude, from Howard University School of Engineering. During
her undergraduate studies Ms. Robinson also was a Summer Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology R.A.
Parson Laboratory for Environmental Science, where she assisted in the development of a computer ground water modeling program.
She was also a research assistant in the Howard University Department of Civil Engineering, and an Editor and contributor
of Howard Engineer Magazine.
